Overall, these results highlight potential intervention targets for anxious youth via (a) reducing ineffective social strategies (co-rumination) and (b) maximizing the benefits of effective social regulation by utilizing co-distraction under proper conditions. Further work is needed to clarify how to alter girls’ social support strategies.
