Good Morning America Uses LifeData System to Monitor Debate Watchers’ Stress Levels

Do you think watching the presidential debates stresses you out? Good Morning America conducted a “stress test” using the LifeData system, and heart rate monitors, to observe the stress levels of a focus group while watching the final presidential debate. It turns out, watching the debate was pretty stressful.

Perceived stress was pretty low at the beginning of the debate (avg. 3.8/10), and rose to an average of 6-7 for the majority of the debate. Stress was at its highest level when Trump was discussing his respect for women, and during social issues. Trump supporters and women had higher average stress levels.

Although watching the debate, and thinking can get stressful, using experience sampling can make the experience interesting!
